I am confused - Are you saying that the wood part of the transom is rivited to the alumnium?? Never seen that.It would help if you told us how big the boat is & what motor you have on it.I replaced the wood on my 13' skiff (9.9 hp) by putting a piece of 3/4" plywood on the inside and another on the outside and bolting them together through the alumnium with SS bolts.

If you don't get an answer here, there is a board that specializes in aluminum repair. A lot of Starcraft owners there. http://www.pagebiz.com/bds/aluminum/repair.html

I'm assuming you ar talking about the alluminum cap that goes over the top of the transom. I would apply a good water resistant adhesive to the cap then just rivet it back in place. Finish of with a good silicone caulk.on the edges.
