Power Tilt Trim Binding

While using the tilt/trim when changing lower unit lube the wire for the hydraulic pump started smoking.

Any solutions for fix or reason for this happening?

What brand/model of motor? The wiring will smoke from overcurrent, possibly from a poor/corroded connection.
