hardest part is disconnecting and reconnecting shift linkage under the bottom carb. if not mechanically inclined, have it done.

Ratt, Different years of motors have different methods to disconnect the shift rod. My '98 Johnny V6 has a clevis pin that you pull, to allow the linkage to slide and free the shift rod.

I would get an OEM service manual and DIY, but that is just me.
