Default Please Help!! Fuel Tank problems

i recently bought a 1994 Keywest 1520, was shocked to find out after a day of running it and fueling it up that someone has cut a huge hole in the center of the tank!! The old owner said he had no idea why? Is therea way to reseal this or is it better to have a new one installed? please help my wife didnt want it to begin with... Any idea how much $ for new tank installation? Thanks

What size motor is on the boat? You might be better off for now just running a 6 gallon removable tank. I don't know exactly how the 1520 is set up, but I'm pretty sure you would have to cut open the deck on my 1720 to remove the tank. Good luck!

How would the previous owner not notice something like that?

It has a 70 Johnson, I kind of thought that a removable tank would be the best way to go. I just like the hull tank for better weight distribution> thanks so much for the info. Russ

I would take a piece of 1/8" stainless plate and 8 S.S. screws
and a tube of 5200 and seal the hole
someone must have needed to clean the tank and this was the
laziest way to do it.
when I did mine I worked thru the filler hole and the fuel sended hole
wasn't easy but doable
