Hello friends,
I have a 1997 mercury 125HP 4 cylinder.
It's pushing a 19ft mako
Yesterday we went out, we went slow speed to warm up for 15 minutes then brought it up to normal 4300-4500 rpm's and traveled for about 20 minutes. Upon stopping our high temperature alarm was going off and the engine was overheating. We waited/fished for about an hour then we started it back up.
It started fine and was maintaining temperature fine, however it seemed it would only operate on 2 cylinders and we could only achieve 3000 rpms' and it wasnt enough to get it up on a plane. We went minimum speed back to the marina as not to over stress the engine.
Does anyone know what happened here?
Thanks
