Hey everybody....The project kinda came to a slow down with all the summer "honey do's"....work.....and abit of walleye fishin. But I'm back at it hard again. I got pics of the tear down but am having trouble getting them on here even after resizing them and much swearing it still tells me there too big...Thats a whole other project...(me and a computer)...LOL Anyway, got her all cleaned out ...old wet foam gone, wiring mess out, rotten trasom gone. Used gluvit on all the rivits and seams in the hull...got new transom cut out and put together with waterproof glue and SS screws, pre drilled all the holes and sealed it with the left over gluvit tonight. Also put the aluminum stringers back in tonight. Ran a piece of 1 1/2" PVC from the transom to were the consel will set and from the bow back to the consel for the wires I want to run so they won't be visable under the gunal. The only thing that will be under the gunal will be the throttle and the shifter cable tucked up tight out of sight. I'm going to replace the pour in foam...(the stuff that caused alot of the deck rotting) with blue closed cell foam. This will leave about 1" of air space between the ribs and the hull so any water that gets in can make it to the bilge area. The next thing will be the new deck and I have some question on what to do here. I'm going with 3/4" exterior ply and I know it needs sealed. I'm not putting carpet back in her because I believe that also added to the rotting of the old deck.I'm going with "Durabak".So my question is seal the wood with epoxie, or poly resin ? The Durabak is a polyurethen product. I have read in some deck boat magazine they don't use anything but the Durabak. If it is recomended to use glass resin, should I need to use cloth as well or would it not be nessesary? Any suggestions with this and the posting of my pics wolud be of a great help... Thanks again for the great site....
I'm no expert on durabak..but I can POST pics..heres my directions..
You need to use a website like photobucket...You upload your picks from your puter to your folder you create there.
Then when you post an update, you click the "Insert Image" button, it is below and to the right of the scarey white smiley face (lol)
Hint...
Have a second webpage open with your photobucket site up...
Then copy the image "url" address BEFORE hitting the "insert image" icon on the iboat webpage where you are posting.
Also,
When you upload pics to photobucket..You can have them automatically sized to the proper 640x480 size that this website needs..
Thanks for the help Cheapboat Kev...IT worked.still need some advice on what to sell this deck with though. I just read another post that said to use epoxie paint to seal the ply with before applying vinyle to it.Im not sure about using epoxie with the Durabak because its polyurethan....does this matter?

My pleasure..Seems like you figured out how to attach the thumbs..My post was to help ya get them big ol honkin pics up!
I would strongly suggest a straightforward glass and resin seal then your Durabak..But I have been wrong once or twice before...Ehhh it happens ya know! lol
thats cool do you have a timeline on your project im shooting for sept. myself
No real time line set as long as its ready for the spring walleye next spring. I got the transom back in her. ready for the foam to go in then cut the deck and fit it in then pre dill the holes and seal it somehow. That is the plans for this up coming week.I really want to get the transom locked back in so I can take the old carpet off the top and insides of the gunals.Without the transom and floor in there I don't like walking around in the hull putting stress on the rivits in the wrong direction, also the gunals are to loose and springie to be pulling on the carpet. I'm affraid of twisting them out of shape. I'll put up more pics as the progress contiues (thanks again CheapboatKev). I do need to keep on her hard though because deer season is coming quick and I'll spend as much time in the woods as I can till the gun seasons start. Then I'll fire up the furnace and get back after the project.
