High guys, I am having a problem cross referencing my Engine serial number to determine what engine is in this boat. The Motor Serial Number is B555759. Based on what I have found this appears to be a 224 from 1982 circa?
Anyway , I need to find out what the point gap, Dwell, and Timing should be for this motor. Currently the motor doesn't run very wall at all, and I believe that based on the condition of the points, that a full tune-up, with Cap, Rotor, points, condenser, and Coil is in order, Can you guys point me in the right direction?

You have a 1987 Mercruiser 165 3.7L 4 cylinder engine.
Go up to the adults only sticky at the top of this forum and you can download the OEM service manual (#8) for your engine. Has all the tuneup info.

Coil?, normally a coil isn't replaced during a tuneup.
Spark Plugs and plug wires are more prone to replacement.
