Hull ID# Question

So, I am trying to insure my 1978 Starcraft SS with Gieco. I have been given a quote and it looks in line with the rest of the quotes I have gotten. However, when I enter the HIN number it kicks out an error saying to check the last two digits on the HIN#. The number I have tried to enter is serial Number on the I plate near the windshield. I have searched the transom for another number and can find nothing. On the old Starcrafts is the S/N and the HIN one in the same or is there a seperate HIN number?

Any thoughts or experience on this matter?

in 1972, the requirement for HIN's went into effect. the hin should be in the outside upper right side of the transon, looking from the back. what does your registration say the HIN is. if the boat is actually older prior to 1972, the state issued an HIN to the boat, it would be on the registration, and Gieco computer may not recognize it.
