Tubing questions for pontoon boat

My wife and I recently bought our first pontoon boat. We bought a 20 ft. Sweetwater Tuscany with a 50HP Honda engine. We were thinking of doing some tubing, but were uncertain on a few things:

1. Do you need a ski-bar or can you secure the rope on the pontoon hooks (a salesman told us this and I was not certain if that is the best way to secure the ropes).

2. What type of tube is the best (round, triangle, deck, sit-on-top) and brand of tube. We will have both kids and adults tubing. Not sure what would be the best based on our HP. Nothing too crazy, of course.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Tubing questions for pontoon boat

Welcome to iboats.

No I wouldn't tie the rope to the bow eyes, you are likely to rip them off over time, they are fine for mooring the boat but don't like to be pulled on sideways.

The end caps on the boat aren't super thick metal and it wil fatige and tear.

I would get 2 stainless U bolts from your dealer ro any marine store and install them on the outsides of the deck making sure you go through the last crossmember then hook a tow sling to that.
