I have the intake removed and am now looking at 3 sets of bolts 2 sets by the lifters and another alond the outside bottom of the head ---- what bolts do I need to remove to get the head off all of them or only the 2 sets on each side by the lifters
Look at the "Adults Only" sticky at the top of this forum. In there, you can download the Mercruiser Factory Service manual. It will guide you through the whole process.
But, to answer your question: remove them all. It's 17 bolts in all. 9 near the valves, and the rest along the bottom below the spark plug holes.
Yep, what Ken said. And there will be three different length bolts, too. Right? I know it's at least two (those ones by the the exhaust ports are shorter than the rest).
