I just got a new to me used boat. It is a 2001, 31 Contender with twin 250 Yamaha. When I turn the port engine key on, the alarm horn sounds, like to varify that it is working. The starboard engine does not. Does this mean that the alarms on the starboard engine are not functioning? Thanks for any help you can provide.

Re: 2001 OX66 250 alarms

thats about how it works.
it only self tests once.
if your nervous then remove both hoods, tur both keys on and look at the top of the block just aft of the flywheel. locate the pink and black temp switch wires.
on each engine unplug the pink and short the engine side to ground. horn should sound.

Rodbolt...not to hijack, but should there be a test beep on a 2002 OX66 200? I've never had one...only the overheat light that comes on for a few seconds when waiting for the fuel pumps to prime. The overheat alarm does sound when it gets too hot (a-whole-nother problem I worked through).

Re: 2001 OX66 250 alarms

single engine, no swlf test.
dual engine self test.
05 and up water detect alarm that ONLY works when the shift position switch tells the ECU its in nuetral.
you go figgue the anganeering issue.
