1996 Merc 135L water pump

Just bought a boat with a 1996 mercury 135L. It has been in a storage unit for the last 5 years. Motor has 70 hours on it. I changed the water pump before I even tried to start it. I believe I did it properly, but still no water coming from the water pump indicator hole.????

By water pump hole, do you mean the tell tail off the back of the motor? Water will only come out of there once the motor is warm and the thermostat opens

Yes. The hole in the center back of the motor. How long should it take for water to come out there? Should I see water coming out somewhere else immediately?

Water will come out the gratings above the antiventilation plate and thru the prop.

It works! Thank you so much. I was about to remove the Lower Unit for the third time. It just needed to heat up enough to open the thermostat, now there is a steady stream.
