Re: need help

there is no pressure relief on the motor, its all part of the trim and tilt pump assy that sits next to the motor on the transom. The pump raises and lowers the motor by reversing direction.forcing fluid in or pulling fluid out of the cylinder.Find out if the pump moter is reversing or even running.

Re: need help

If the motor is not turning to move the trim down, try reversing the relays. If the motor goes down but not up now, then the relay is bad. Replace both as a matter of course.

You can also try unplugging the tilt motor wires inside the engine. If you jump blue to positive 12 volts and green to ground, the tilt should go up if the motor is working. Reverse the wires and the tilt should go down.

There are relief valves built into the tilt cylinder and if you push hard enough on the engine leg, you may be able to tilt down to the trim cylinder. HOWEVER: You do run the risk of blowing off the head of the trim cylinder.
