Hello.. I am a newbie to the boating world.. I just bought my first boat.
I was wonder what the yellow tube is that is on my fuel pump, it goes up the side of the engine and looks to be broken.. the only thing that i can see that maybe it went to is a nipple on the top side of the carb....

can someone please tell me what this is..? the engine runs perfectly fine... is it very important? does it go to the carb? if so can i just replace it with a normal 1/4 black fuel hose???

thanks...

It does go up to the carb.It is there so if the fuel pump fails the fuel will go in the engine and not in the bilge.

It goes up to the carb and is important. It prevents fuel from a ruptured diaphram from dumping into the bilge.Use clear tubing to look for any liquid in the line.

Most any marina has it or can get it.I would not use something that is not rated for gasoline.
