I recently purchased a used pontoon with a 2001 Mercury 60 HP 2 stroke Bigfoot. It starts, idles without difficulty, runs fine at 1000 rpm or more but when it idles in gear, it stalls after 20-30 seconds. To restart I have to bring up the neutral throttle and choke it to restart. I threw in a can of Seafoam and seems to have improved only slightly.
This Mercury has the oil site glass on the front hood of the engine.
Another person suggested that I had too rich a mixture but leaned out at higher rpm's, hence the difficult restart. He said he had an outboard that did this and disconnected the oil injection and mixed the oil with his gas for a consistency.
Besides a planned fresh set of plugs and fuel filter....anything else to consider?
