Default new boat owner outboard question

i have a twin e48eslce outboard, wanting to know if they have built in alternators or something to charge my 12v marine batteries. Got electronics hooked up to it, and dont know if batteries are being drained by the electronics. (vhf,cb,cd deck, two lights) Dont wanna get stranded out at see or cant start it at the dock. Thanks

threy have a stator and rectifier, as a charging system to maintain the starting batteries. but the diagram does not state the amperage of the stator. it may just be enough to maintain the batteries for starting.

As TD said, yes and no, tey will put out a charge but the motor has to be running at a moderate to high RPM for it to be much power adn it may/may not work.

Stators fail, rectifiers fail, you need to check voltage with the engine off then again with it started and see if the voltage goes up when running, DO NOT dissconnect the battery cable when the engine is running, check with the cables hooked to the battery.

I charge both my batteries every time before I go out, can't go wrong there.

They are only the round non regulated type of rectifier so they are only going to be lowish output stators (6 amps ?) or the batteries will be overcharged.

VHF will take several amps when transmitting, CB also but not so much as a VHF on full power.

CD could take quite a bit if you have a massive audio output.

Navigation lights and deck lights you should know the power of but LED based lights in their place would be more frugal.

In addition to not disconnecting the battery while the engine is running take great care not to connect the batteries with the polarity reversed. Instant death to your rectifiers if you do!
