Re: Any one else have a Tom Sawyer?

Hey I own a Tom Sawyer. I have recently aquired a 1973 Deep V as my first boat. I am finding out that it is a lot of fun, Wont cool , Seats are not in one peice anymore, The floor is very spongy, and it is an electrical nightmare.
The trailer has one brake light a spare that I will have to cut off.
All in all I am excited to own it.
Please dont tell my wife that it is another project.

I bought one earlier this year for a next project boat. I have a thread about the restoration as well. Mine is a 1971 with a MerCruiser 165. Beautiful boat.

Yes. I just aquired one.
It's a 1969 Tom Sawyer boat and the seats and carpet have been replaced
not too long ago. It has a 350 chevy motor which has about 100 hours on it.
Exhaust out the hull of the boat and sounds GREAT!!!!!!
Fires right up and runs great.
Got to do a little tinkering with little stuff but other than that, this is an AWESOME boat.
Do you have any idea how much they are worth?

This is my 1968 Tom Sawyer closed bow runabout PROJECT. I got this boat for free with no trailer. I will be posting a thread in the repairs and restoration thread.

I grabbed a 1972 18' tri-hull bowrider from my brother in law last year and hauled the thing from Arkansas up here to NY let it sit the winter then gutted it. New stringers, motor mount, transom, floor, upholstery, rewired it, all new seals and bellows on the MC outdrive. Has the typical 165 straight line 6 cyl in it. And parked it under my shed roof behind my workshop till spring. Only paid $400 for the twin axle trailer, and boat. the hull was in fantastic shape but it sat full of water for 4 years because they never pulled the plug out under the engine. I did a great job on it all and just got to sand it down and put a coat of paint on the thing. Can't wait for spring. And yes, its the first boat I ever bought. Have lots of pictures of my restore job, I might post them here just for kicks when I get m ore use to this site. Lot of work and a hell of an education. I built homes for 24 years, rebuilt many peices of equipment, build and fly remote control planes, done tons of bodywork, have more tools than anyone should be allowed to have and I knew I could fix the thing. I totally saved the things life and feeling awesome for doing it all. LOL !!!:)
