Was out with a friend on his boat today and have a question about charging voltage.
He was charging at 15.4 V based on a plug in gauge (his dash gauge showed about that high as well) and never really got under 15 V.
He has a Bayliner 2555 with a 350 and OMC Cobra drive. We did about 45 minutes on plane (Kelowna to Peachland) and then cruised back at 5-6mph. The motor was charging the entire time above 15V.
I'm concerned his regulator is going. If this was a truck, I'd be tracking it down and I'm thinking his setup is really not any different. I figure max should be 14.7 before you start cooking the batteries.
Am I right or am I fussing about nothing?
Thanks.
