What makes Mercury Optimax 75hp differant than a 90hp

Both engines are the same....is there a way to make a 75hp into a 90hp. Have we reached the age of chiping our outboards.

I looking into this myslef a few months ago. Going though the parts specs on the 75 and 90s, there are too many differences to make it worth while.

PCM
Throttle bodies <<< not 100% on this one
and power head

These are the big ticket items. Plus a few other smaller parts. I just stopped when i looked at the price of these items

I do believe PCM is power/ performance control module
