I am going to rebuild my 1979 115 johnson powerhead due to two bad pistons and I am looking for the right manual for torque spec's and helpful hints. Does anyone have any reccomendations on where to find one? And does anyone reccomend a good used boat parts dealer I am also looking for a realacement head for one side my old one has a couple of small chunks missing out of the inside. Thanks for your help.

Re: Rebuilding my powerhead question

The OE service manual is the only way to go in this case.

BTW - find out what caused the damage on the 2 pistons. A damaged piston is a result, not a cause. You don't want the same thing to happen again.

You can try Superior Marine at 800-338-9281 and talk to Jack. Have the casting number off the good head so he can provide a matching one. The numbers on the heads will be in sequence, the left (port) side being 1 digit less than the matching starboard side.
