Default Problem fueling my Oasis Deckboat

I have a 1997 Oasis deckboat. Until this year I have always trailered it and I always had to refuel gingerly. To get the boat to take fuel while on the trailer, I have had to refuel very slowly until the vent line (above the fuel intake neck port) clears (spits out gas). Then I could increase the rate of gas flow from the pump. Previously I have never let the boat get below half a tank of gas.

This summer I am not trailering the boat; I have it in dry storage at a marina so I had to refuel on the water. I had let the tank get nearly empty. However, When I treid to refuel, I could not get the tank to accept any gas. As I pumped the fuel neck line filled quickly and overflowed at the intake and I got virtually no gas in the tank.

I took the boat back out and ran it making abrupt motions and stops but to no avail. I tried for an hour to get the tank to accept fuel but it would not. The fuel neck line was filled with gas but that was it. I opened the engine compartment to inspect the tank. The sides of the tank looked like they were drawn inward holding a vacuum. I couldn't see where the vent tube came into the tank.

Is there a trap valve on the fueling line hose? Has anyone every seen or heard of the problem before? Help!

I don't know about the Oasis specifically but it sounds like your fuel vent line is clogged. Mud dobbers sometimes nest in them.
