I purchased a 1999 Bravo MCM 5.0L engine with Thunderbolt V Ignition. Can someone explain to me what the Alpha and Bravo (1-4) mean and how I can determine if I can connect this engine to my existing 228 sterndrive? The engine model is 4-M12025L S.

Engine is an engine. As long as you use the same coupler as before, you shouldn't have any problems.
