Good day: (lets start )
I have a early 80's 140hp VRO which I bought last year. Had it out last year and there was a problem. If when you started it, it ran rough at idle it wouldn run up or if it did it would sound like one of the cyl was not firing now and agian. If when started it ran fine at idle you were alright. about a 5% chance of it running properly ( initally thought it was a fuel issue (old fuel). Completely changed fuel and rebuilt carbs this year and there is no change. if any one can help it would be greatly appreciated
thank in advance

Re: 140hp VRO Help

back to basics:
Compression test (should be about equal on all cylinders).
Spark test (should jump a 7/16" gap on an inline tester clipped to the engine block).
Cylinder drop test: engine idling, pull then replace the spark plugs wires, one at a time. If RPMs don't drop noticeably, that cylinder's not making power. Use a plastic or insulated tool to avoid a nasty shock.

report your results.

Fuel line hold pressure?
Tank vent open and clear?
Tank free from water and debris?
What spark plugs you running? Describe their appearance after idling, esp. if any look different from the others.
Did your carb rebuild include link & sync?
