150 mercury to 50hp force engine change over

Hello, I AM CHANGING OVER TO A BACK UP MOTOR. THIS IS DUE TO BLOWN 150 MERC BLACK MAX. THE FORCE 50HP WAS GIVEN TO ME AND NOW IT IS ON THE BOAT. STEERING ISSUE IS ALWAYS BEEN STIFF. IGNITION AND ELECTRICAL WIRING TRANSFER HAS NOT BEEN DONE. I WILL TRY THIS TOMORROW. ANY SUGGESTIONS ON THIS WOULD BE APPRICATED. GAMBY

OK, I HAVE DONE THE WIRING, ALL A OK, PLUGGED HOLES WHERE OLD BOLTS ARE NOW MISSING. OH OH PROBLEM MERCURY SINGLE LEVER UNIT CONTROL IS DIFFERENT THAN THE MOTOR NEEDS. ANY ONE PLEASE IS THERE A CHANGE IN THE CONTROL TO SWITCH OR DO I BUY NEW?
