68 johnson 85hp electric shift ignition conversion?

I was told that since this model has points that it could be converted to an automotive ignition setup.
I am going to have to fabricate a new harness anyway due to deterioration of wire sheilding and don't really want to spend $250-$300 for a new spark amplifier.
Does anyone know the proper way to convert it?

I am replying to bump this up because I have the same exact motor. It was given to me, and it has no amplifier in it, but seems good otherwise.

I have been looking for an amplifier, and feel that the only way I will find one is to buy a used motor somewhere.

A conversion would be nice!!!

I too would love to hear how to convert my johnny to a car ignition!!! i paid 500 bills for my last amp. and if it goes i dont want to couph up that kind of scratch again!!!
