We just bought a boat that had set up for about 2 years. We had the carb rebuilt, spark plugs changed and changed fuel lines. When putting in the water the first weekend we had no problems. The second weekend it ran great for a while then after running full throttle it died. Cranked up again ran again and it died. we did this a few times until we had to idle back to our pier. The next day we were loading it to take to the marina and it wouldn't crank finally cranked at idle went dead had to load by hand. What is wrong? Please help with any suggestions.

I had the same issue , boat sat three years !
ran good for a couple of trips then would run at idle or 1/4 throttle anything above it would choke down and be hard to start.
It was the fuel pump all clogged up with old fuel varnish crystals there was a 1/2 handful of the crude and when I would go to full throttle it was blocking the fuel out port on the pump making it run out of gas, and hard to restart.
I pulled my pump apart and cleaned and put new gaskets and diaphram in and it runs great now, parts was $15.00
