I have a 1975 50 horse Merc Outboard. It's a great clean engine and it idles fine, but recently when I try to accelerate to full throttle it sputters for a second and then dies. I've checked the fuel line and have even drained the lines and re-tried....I've been told it might be the fuel filter, carb, etc.....Any suggestions? I know its a broad question but I don't understand because it's a great engine.
