I have an 19?? Volvo Penta AQ170B. Last year the engine started to intermeadiatly overheat. After many days of cussing, troubleshooting, replacing t'stats, and impellers, I found the problem. The "s" hose coming from the lower unit was not connected. I replaced it and the metal housing that it connects to. I thought that my troubles were over. I now have water leaking from the input to the oil cooler and lots of water leaking from the weep hole in the circ pump. While troubleshooting the origional problem, I connected a garden hose to the pump side of the sea water strainer. Could it be possible to have blown the seals out of the circ pump? Our marina appears to have an abundance of water pressure. I thought that I might have a blockage so I removed the elbow from the exhaust end of the exhaust manifold. I had water flowing from there. I also checked and had flow going out the lower unit. If the seals are blown out of the recirc pump, can I rebuild it. I priced one at around $1000.
