Ok my water pump is shot, figured that out thanks to this forum. Bout to drop the foot and put a new water pump in. Know how to do everthing except disconect the sift linkage from under the carburetor. Ive done this procedure on other motors but cant figure out how to get the llinkage disconected to drop the foot. Ive read on here that there should be a cotter pin that colds the top of the shift rod to the rocker arm shift linkage. But i dont see it. Ive seen people on here say that they didnt have to disconect the carbs to remove this linkage. A step by step for the shift linkage removal would be great maybe even some phyotos? Any help is appreciated need to be on the river tomorrow please help.
so is 60 a c-clip or somithing im wondering how to remove that pin cause i can barely see it but i know others have taken it off without taking anything else off
Step by Step water pump removal. First off im a dumba**. Ok on the shift linkage theres a bolt that fastens into the powerhead, loosen it almost all the way out, this bolt is halfway between the cable and connector. You can then pry the two pieces apart to disconnect the pin it dosent contect to itself on the inside. That was my problem i kept thinking i had to disconect the pin just losten the bolt and pry apart. Second losten all the bolts on the LU two on each side on above the prop and one in the little fin housing. Then drop the LU it takes a little wiggling to get the connector through the first hole try usuing a screw driver to pry it forward. The your home free slide it off and replace the water pump.
