My 1999 Yamaha 100 hp 4 stroke ran very poorly after winter storage, rough idle, backfire, sneezing, popping low on power, so I tried several carb cleaners and it got a little better but still not good. So I bit the bullet and pulled all 4 carbs off and went through them, I found them to be pretty clean except the mid-range jet was plugged, I had to use very fine wire to poke them clean. Put them whole mess back together and it runs like new ! Took about 5 hours, but well worth it. I could do it a lot faster the second time. I wonder what a dealer charges go through 4 carbs?

carb kits are about 90 dollars apiece and about 4 hours labor, dont forget each carb inlet has a filter and dont forget to mark an orintation line between each carb inlet and the fuel line BEFORE removing, .
