Water pressure line

Hello,
I have a 98 mercury 200 EFI and I dont use the water pressure guage. I do have a water pressure line comin from my lower unit that sticks out about 4 inches. My question is the next time i drop my lower unit, can i cut this line back so it doesnt stick out? Im just wondering if it will flood my lower unit where it isnt supposed to get wet. Thank you

That line sticking out of your lower unit is not for a water pressure gage, it's for a speedometer.

Your lower unit has a built-in speedo pickup. The hose would be connected to another hose going to the speedo.

It does no harm to let it be. If it bothers you to have the hose sticking out of there, just pull it off the next time you do an R&R on your lower unit. There will be no effect on the oil-containing portions of your gearcase.
