I have a 4 winns fling boat that has been nothin but trouble but want to try to get it goin since i have so much invested. Problem is 1 cyclinder has low compression, like 90, others have about 120-125. I take it out and hammer it down and it only goes about 8 mph! The motor is loud, not real loud but i know it has the power, its putting the rpms out just something is not right somewhere else in the line of how things work under there. it doesnt have a trim, im guessing auto trim? any help much appreciated. oh and it has the inboard/outboard i guess u call it 115 hp v4

You either have a blown head gasket or you may have lost a ring. You can't examine the cylinders without pulling the powerhead to get to the cylinder heads, so plan on that. You will need a hoist of some kind and a lifting eye.

I would not attempt any work on that setup without a factory service manual. Part # for yours is 502138. For future threads, your model number is 115JEER.

Most of the engine rebuild parts come in the standard rebuild kits for 115 Crossflow engines, but the adapter plate gasket is special #340380.

You may also need to have the jet pump looked at if the impeller is bent, Pull the impeller housing and examine it for dings and bends; it needs to be perfect.

Welcome to iboats.

Yup you own a hybrid with a V-4 block mated to a waterjet. The V-4 will give rpms with only two cylinders working..... :( but no real power. Even at running at it's best they were good for about 35 mph.

Is this new to you? What year is it? Do you have firsthand knowledge of it's maintenance?

If it were mine..... I would do a complete decarb and see it that has an effect on the compression. Verify that it is firing on all cylinders...... it could need a carb rebuild.

I do not believe you have a trim or trim motor since it is a water jet outdrive.

its a 1994 only 1 cyclinder is low on compression, had new carb put on it, took it out today let it run at the dock for about 20 minutes, with the throttle wide open it would gain a few extra rpms about once every 10-15 seconds but while it was just idiling it stalled and wouldnt restart, it was really hot, i think some safety switch or something killed it, dont know why it gets so hot

"dont know why it gets so hot"

I'd guess its overheating, blew the head gasket hence the lower compression in one hole. And I'd also venture it overheats on that one hole because its carb is clogged and that cyl is not getting lube/fuel.
If you must do what you're doing you'd be better off selling it because very soon it will put a rod through the block.

If you want to fix it, get the manual, a used hoist from craigslist and follow the expert advise you already got above.
A $120 hoist, $10 head gasket and $22 carb kit.
