Hi I have a 3.0 Mercruiser that was leaking oil out of the front main seal. I took a harmonic balancer puller and pulled the balancer off with on trouble. Now that I installed a new seal, I noticed that I did not have a center bolt in the hole of the crank shaft holding the balancer and it looks like it never had one. I can feel in the hole and it does not seem to be threaded. Without a threaded center hole and bolt, how do I press the balancer back on? Totally Baffled!!!!
The simple answer is: you use a big hammer. Well, okay, you can soften the blows with a block of wood, but you do need to pound it on.
