1996 force 75hp driving me crazy

hi guys i have a 96 force 75 hp about a month ago it started idling poorly lost power from 5100 rpm to 42 4300 rpms i replaced plugs, compression check is 130 132 134 removed and cleaned carb (3hr soak in carb cleaner) put it back together drained and cleaned tank was no water very little trash still same problems any ideas any help greatly appreciated

Try changing the fuel pump diaphragm. You can get a rebuild kit for around $20.

thanx badly bent replaced fuel pump diaphragm no difference could the timing have gotten changed how do i check that read somewhere that that a dpi? module could be bad causing a coil not to fire right i have no skip in engine anything else is appreciated

hi there can anyone tell me what the wot timing and the initial idle timing should be? is there any reason the engine should be running at 42 4300 rpms instead of 5200 i have cleaned the carb, replaced the fuel pump diaphragm, new plugs, checked the cdi module,. it idles good in neutral, but will not idle in gear, rpms drop 3 400 rpms just going into gear. at wot it runs at 42 4300 rpms instead of 5200 it started all at once a few months ago.

Remove the carb and look in the hole at the reeds. You may need to remove the manifold to inspect all three reed blocks. These engines are known to break reed petals.

Even one broken reed petal on one cylinder will affect performance, yet the engine will start and run.

ok i have the carbs off now and am cleaning them, i will take a look at the reed fins tomorrow

it looks like i firgured out what happened. today i noticed the little plastic timing linkage piece is cracked and the timing looks like it fell off.
