I have the V4 with four carburetors.

Before I rebuilt them the engine would have trouble running at idle but ran great at full rpm. The problem got to be, where it would stall when first shifted into gear.

Aftrer rebuild kit, the lower two were dumping fuel out the front. I tried to adjust float drop level on all 4 to 18mm - 19mm. They still dump fuel. I lowered drop to 14--15mm. No fuel present but, now will not run????

The adjustable needles are all 15 turns out. Thats where I initally found them set.

Compression is 115, 120, 120 AND 70!!!!

I will recheck all plugs for spark.

The idle needles are proabbly not supposed to be 15 turns out. There is a spec on initial setting, and it is not the standard 1-1/2 turns out that a lot of motors call for. My OMC Service manual has the setting for the '98 115HP, but it is at home. Maybe I can look it up for you later.

OK, My '98 Service manual says the idle screws for the 115HP should be 5-3/4 turns out. Float drop 11/16-1-1/8"(17-28MM), Invert the carb body and float should be level with gasket surface

Hey thanks again. I set all four carbs to about 20mm float drop height and idle screws at 5 3/4 turns out. It will start at a high idle and run as loang as I keep the RMPs above 950-1000. It will die at idle.

I have tried to use the carb set up procedure in the "top secret file."

with that compression u will continue to have problems .....anytime compression is more than 15 lbs different between cylinders engine will never run properly...cylinder 4 at 70 lbs is your culprit
