Would a regular harness or self-centering one be better for wakeboarding? I'd like to get bigger airs and am wondering if the self-centering one that I have is keeping me from getting as high since it seems like I can't get as much "pull".

I plan on getting a tower in the future, but for now I have to settle for a harness.

doesn't matter what you use as you will not get any height. If you want bigger air you need a pylon or a tower.

The answer above was a generalization and doesn't answer your question at all.

You can progress plenty with the harness. Many people have. Since you're just starting out and not ready to get a pylon or tower yet you will be fine. I would definitely go with the static harness. The one with the pulley will take away from your consistent line tension taking away from your technique.

I'm confused - how is using the harness any different than the regular tow point on a boat? The harness hooks on to each of the tie-down points at the stern, allowing you to pull around an outboard engine, or the leg if your I/O doesn't have a center pull point or ski pylon.
