I've been trying to find the part numbers for a water pump kit and the fuel pump kit for my Mercury 850 (1964, 6-cylinder) without success. I've even called Mercury's outboard customer service, and they said their data only goes back to 1970. They gave me a number for a "Hotline" but they won't talk to me until I pay them $10 via credit card. What kind of customer service is that???

Does anybody know where to find the kit part numbers? I know the impeller is 30221 / 65960, but some of the gaskets aren't available individually anymore.

Thanks for any help you can offer and God bless.

Here's a parts breakdown for your motor:

http://www.mercruiserparts.com/selectDocs.asp?doc_nbr=32152

If your lower unit has the water intake in the trim tab, check out the gearcase parts for an "850E" model. If there are intake holes on either side of the lower unit, it's an "850E-1".

Fuel pumps would be the same for either one.

You can take those OEM part numbers and plug them into the Sierra database at www.boatfix.com for good prices on Sierra aftermarket parts. Here's a good link for the Sierra parts finder:

http://www.boatfix.com/searchsierra.asp

www.crowleymarine.com is also a good place for parts but typically I find the best prices at Boatfix.com.

iboats.com sells parts as well so check them out too if you like.

Here's a few repair kit #'s for you:

Water pump repair kit (without housings): 18-3217

Water pump repair kit with upper pump housing: 18-3517

Water pump repair kit with both upper/lower pump housings: 18-3314

Fuel pump repair kit (quantity for one pump): 18-7804 replaces Merc 23014A1.
