Hi, going to try to rebuild my carb for first time in my life on my 165 merc. I was reading to soak it in Berryman Carb dip, but then read that for last couple years carb dips aren't as powerful as they used to be. My local Napa only sells their brand in gallon for $20. Should I still use that or would it be just as good and cheaper to like use muriatic acid, paint thinner, simple green or any other suggestions. I will also buy couple cans of carb cleaner and compressed air for finishing.

i got my carb dip at the local auto parts store. just went and looked, it's berrymans. i used that, then washed parts in soap and water and scrubbed parts with a toothbrush, then compressed air dried. then i redid that process again. turned out nice and clean. carb rebuild turned out to work perfect..
