1974 115 Evinrude gear ratio/Max rpms
I been researching it and looks like the gear ratio is 2.0 and RPM is anywhere from 5000 to 6000. Anyone with something better than a seloc book?
Thanks!

Yes, I could google it, but I rather get advise from my Iboats fellow members...

Nandy, my data shows a 2:1 gear ratio but it shows the RPM at 4,500 to 5,500 at WOT.

Re: 1974 115 Evinrude gear ratio/Max rpms
gear ratio is 2:1 and rpm is listed from the factory as 4500 -5500, but several people believe that they are some what lugging at those speeds and will suggest going to 5600-5800rpm's. I was hesitant at first, but the motor does seem happier at the higher rpm's.
