i have a 92 maxum scr with a reman. 350 vortec from marine power. i'm having problems timming it. its not t/b iv or a v. the distributor looks to be a gm unit. 2 wires comming from one side of the dist. to the coil and 1 wire from the other side of the dist. (white wire) going to the throttle linkage. looks to have a module like a gm under the the dist cap. the plugs are black and wet, running rich. timming is way off the marks. how do i put this in base timming ? any help would be greatly appreciated ...

Re: timming issue..

Thats ok I thought all 92 5.7 used the thunderbolt 4 ignition unless fuel injected. But anyway the only igntion that mercruiser uses(that im aware of) that you need to put in base timing mode is the Thunderbolt 5. Can you post a pic or your engine serial number off he flame arrestor cover?
