leaking petrol

hi all new to this forum
would like some help with a little problem i am having with my evenrude 20hp
first of all it starts first time idles is normal and gets up on plane no problem.
after 30 minutes starts to lose power but only in idle it just cuts out and i have to start it in gear
tried several times to birth in idle but just seems to cut out.
one thing i have noticed is that when engine was on tilt there was a steady stream of petrol coming out of the carb but only when under pressure
am i right in thinking the float needle might be stuck or past its best.
dont want to take the carb of has i would have to take of the starter motor to get to the bolts.

yup, gas coming out the carb throat is a dead giveaway that the float valve isn't closing off, and that's flooding her out.
