manifold nipple under carbs

Hi all, i bought a 1985 Johnson 40hp model j40ELCOB outboard which i need help figuring out where to attach a hose. There is a nipple that is located on the manifold directly under the Carburetor's. Does anyone know where the hose is supposed to go from that nipple? Every other hose is accounted for.

In THIS DIAGRAM Nipple #26 and hose #36?
The hose is described as "Hose, silencer to manifold" but the parts lists seems to indicate that is is only applicable to 40R models. Different air silencer listed for 40R models too.
PARTS LIST to go with above diagram

thank you for your reply...i guess the hose from #26 nipple is attached to the air silencer which is attached to the front of the carb's and below the VRO?
