You may be about to waste some bux, Ejgonter.

Please explain how you determined that your starter "went out".

Rebuild usually costs about $75, but if it ain't broke fixing it won't solve your problem.

Re: starter on johnson 100 hp ( 1967)

Im sure its the starter. Ive ran the boat about five times this year,
Heres what happen I put the boat in the lake when to start it. it cranked over a few times, Then nothing so I topped the cover and the starter gear was stuck at the top. So I pulled it back on the trailer and (rented a boat for the day since I had the whole family out) OUCH anyhow I pulled the starter off and looked closer a few teeth where gone and one of the brushes was no long connected I took it to a starter shop today and he said he couldnt get parts to fix it. So ill be driving about a hour away to have a starter place that I know is good have a look at it.
