I just got a new to me 1975 Mako 191 19 foot boat. And I just noticed that it had no side discharge for the bilge pump. After talking to another owner of a 1976 make he has the same problem on his you remove a cover and put a hose over the stern to drain the bilge. Tomorrow I will check to see if mines is the same.
My question is does you boat have a bilge pump and if yes where does it discharge from?

Mine has a through hull fitting near the top of the transom the bilge pump discharges through.

Ayuh,... I've got 2 bilge pumps that discharge through thru-hulls at the aft starboard corner, where I can see them from the helm...

Also 2 pumps (500-1100) but mine go out the back and the 1100 has an alarm on it so when it turns on I get an earsplitting tone to let me know something isn't right.

I've have 2 pumps on board. The aft pump comes out a dedicated thru hull the usual aft starboard location. The front pump comes out in front of the helm on starboard side.

Both pumps have visual and audio alarms at the helm.

Mine discharges through a thru-hull at the back, starboard side.

Sounds like you guys have it right. A dedicated through hull for each pump on the starboard side above the water line (I think at least 12") is what the Coast Guard recommends. Unless your helm is on the port side, then put the through hulls on the port side. The point is the though hulls go on the side of the helm so the captain can see them. And with multiple pump setups, the pumps should never share a discharge, or use check valves.

I think the CG is just suggesting which side the discharge goes on. That is not a requirement.

Starboard side aft well above waterline, but too small of an opening IMO.
