I would like to know what is the purpose of the crank case air. Is that to operate the VRO pump? Does gas get into that? I am thinking of putting an electric fuel pump instead of using the VRO. Can I block off that crank case air nipple? Thanks.

electric has not place on an outboard. major fire hazard. either replace with the new OSM pump, or the new premix pump. but do not use electric.

Where do I get a premix pump. Is there one on the net? I searched and searched.

If you are going to a premix pump then you should get one from a 1982 (ish) same or greater HP motor.

Look up a 1983 model of your motor and order the parts needed for a fuel pump and related hoses and fittings.

It is frustrating to not able to find that premix fuel pump for my 1984 90 HP johnson. I looked everywhere for a 1983 fuel pump.

Also they only come in up to 55 HP motor that says non VRO.

Hello! I want to thank you all for you help. I happened to found that pre mix pump from an 83 90 HP from Indianapolis and put it on. Tested my boat and sweet thang it is ! Smooth and humming on the water. The VRO pump was bad. Only paid 25.00 for a reconditioned pump. Thank you so much for your help here.

Now make certain that you remember to premix. Sign on the gas filler may help.
