mercury 18h.p. revs high after quarter throttle

Hello I just purchased a used boat motor a mercury 18 XD i tried it out today and soon as you went over quarter throttle it just reved high and it seemed like you spun the prop off then slow down start over and just do the same thing. If anyone could help me out it would be greatly appreciated.

i think you nailed it there - definately sounds like a spun prop take it in and have the hub changed out .
