Possibly someone can assist with clarifying the OEM intended application of a NOS lower gear housing we purchased several months ago. The housing has a nice flat lime green exterior and has casting number 376874 cast into the top of the casting and (in magic marker) 378594 written on the lower casing of the assembly. We were told that it would fit our 1959 Evinrude 35HP Lark, but see that the housing is actually about a 1/4" shorter (front to back) where it would attach to the motor. It also lacks the rearward most bolt hole above the exhaust channel.

We would appreciate any assistance.
