missing power piston spring?

I rebuilt my quadrajet 4bbl carb off a 1986 mercruiser 350 chevy small block
carb numbers are mercruiser 1347-8292 number on carb is 17080561 when i took the carb apart there was no spring under the power piston. the diagram shows one. Are some built without it?

no, all q-jets have a spring , it lifts the piston ,vacume pulls it down
