I just recently purchased an 18 ft wellcraft with a 125 hp force outboard. The motor ran well once I put fresh gas, fuel stabilizer and new plugs. Recently I was out fishing and the boat ran fine going out the the fishing spot. Once we were done, I started it up, pulled the anchor and went to go back. Once I throttled up like normal, the motor all of a sudden will not go past 2800 rpm and the boat will not plane. I am pretty sure I still have to get the carbs adjusted. Is this a carb issue or something else. Thanks in advance!!

just a note....i forgot to mention that a friend of mine just recently put a new tach in for me. Could this have something to do with the problem...thanks

Welcome to iboats.

Most likely an ignition problem. As in not firing on all 4 cylinders.
Test for spark.

Could be a loose wire, bad coil, cd module, trigger.

So test for spark first, and we will go from there.

on another forum, someone had to adjust his float levels in his carbs and it fixed it! Just a thought!
