how the heck do i get this off

here it is
all i know is that its a 165hp motor by meurcury and it was made around 70-71
does anoyone know what model it is?and how to get stern drive off?
it makes alot of noise.

I have the exact same set up. It's a Pre-Alpha drive. The motor looks good, but the wiring is "interestingly out in the open". Oh and it looks like the fuel pump may not be the original. If I were you I would look in the Adults Only section and look up the manual that is for your motor. It will show you how to take it out. Good Luck!!!! If you need any advice with this motor don't be shy to ask me about it.

Its pretty simple, put it forward, unbolt the trim cylinders and remove six nuts.
You do want the manual though, it will show you how to align the motor. You will need an alignment tool also.
The GM 250 I6 is a great engine. It makes good torque and its very smooth. My father loves those little engines and has several of them in different cars and trucks (and the garage floor).
What kind of work are you doing to the boat?

As Frosty mentioned, the wiring does look like it needs some attenntion.

Lower drive and drain oil
Put drive in forward
remove the 6 nuts
remove drive

i have gotten the drive off. Bad news it needs both bellows and shift cable cause the one on it is melted and i also need a gemble bearing(i think thats whats its called)
